Thread: 2019 Levi Lewis

For those that are convinced that Levi is “the guy”, I’m pretty sure we were not watching the same game yesterday. We were able to keep the game close yesterday, in spite of QB play, not because of it. I think our defense is much improved, we have three awesome running backs. This team has so much potential, but I do not think we can reach our full potential with LL as QB.

I agree. I don’t have any bad feelings towards the kid, I just don’t think he should be in as QB

I wouldn’t chalk him up as a Dion Ray. He’s better than that, but he needs to be more intellectual in the pocket.

Yes there is plenty of doubt. I don't see that he has that much room for improvement. His play yesterday was much the same as it was last year to me...I hope I'm wrong...but...four turnovers by the QB is not good

I don’t think you guys realize how many sacks Mississippi State would have had yesterday had it not been for Levi. I’m not saying that’s the biggest factor but for every bad pass he threw yesterday, he avoided a 5-10 yard loss on a sack. Against net the best D we play this year, he performed as good, and probably better than any QB we’ve had since Gautier on that type of stage.

Good thing he only had 2

I believe the 4 he was referring to was 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles

Agree, and I certainly agree he can win games in the SBC. The problem arises when you play better defenses that stacked the box against the run. I'm not certain we can win the SBC championship against App State or Troy without the ability to throw the ball down the field at times. We didn't last year, there is plenty of game tape for both of those games.

Now on to Liberty this week, we have a chance to clean-up execution and discipline on both sides of the football in this game.

There has to be another QB on the roster that is at least as capable as Levi was last year when he was given many chances to play. Why the inconsistency by Coach Napier, we should be giving some of that same experience to someone else. And if there isn't someone prepared as Levi was last year, then that is Napier's fault. Before some of you panic with a critique of Napier, I like Coach Napier but I will point out something I don't like that he is doing.

The kid engineered a 99 yard 4Q drive with defenders breathing down his neck. He is not the second coming of Brian Mitchell, but the kid can make plays. CajunT is right about how will he adjust now that teams know his weaknesses. The book on Levi is being written and what happens over the next two weeks will be a big part of his story. I’m not ready to write him off.

You have no idea what the other QBs can do. I watched #8 in pregame and he was not very accurate with just the offense running plays. No coach in his right mind would play an inferior player in a big game. For you, your just going to have to accept that Napier knows what he is doing and knows his personnel a lot better than the fans on this site.
