I do think the coaches called a great game offensively but LL made some good reads and throws and I think he's been fairly consistent most of year in that department. He's not the best deep ball passer we've had and likely won't kill people there but we still need to incorporate some of that into our gameplan.
For me, LL threw the ball with confidence on Thursday night. It looked different coming out of his hand and how it got to the receivers. I am hoping it is one of those 'something just clicked' moments for an athlete. We won't know until the effort is somewhat duplicated. I say somewhat because 26-30 and 296 yards is an impossible bar to reach consistently.

We will not require him to throw for 300 yards on just about any night. The points before were in response to others who said he was incapable of making a lot of the plays he did. We've seen him make these plays this year but he is just not called upon to do it very often. He still struggles with his deep ball accuracy but I think he's been pretty efficient in many of the other throws you saw, especially when they are moving him around. The funny thing is that I have many of the same reservations about him as others but it looks like I'm defending him most of the time because of a skewed view of his actual production to some.

    Damn, dude.

We get it. You want someone else at QB. Our coaching staff believes out of all the QBs currently on our roster, he gives us the best chance to win this season.

Next year might be different, and that’s fine, but that is NEXT year.

Again, according to ESPN's QBR, Lewis is 34th nationally and 6th G5. I know no rating system if this sort is 100% accurate, but it certainly means Lewis would be considered an average, more or less, P5 QB and a considerably better than average G5 QB.

Does he have limitations? Of course he does. And, that's why he is playing for Louisiana and not a school named Alabama or Ohio State or Clemson. We're not going to get a Joe, or Tua, or Jalen.

I think the word consistency is what I'm looking for from Levy Lewis. The performance he had against Coastal will be hard to duplicate regardless of the defense in front of him. But if he can throw the football with that kind of accuracy the rest of the season, the offense will be harder to stop. He has made great strides this year in decision making and execution.

Confidence is the key word. We had a female friend in the group for the Tx St game, and although I would not say she is a novice to football, she is no expert either. It didn't take 2-3 outings for LL before she said "he has zero confidence...he looks terrified."

I don't know why that is, or why he can have such an outstanding game next time out, so I guess consistentcy is also what is mystifying. But I believe the more experience he gets with games like Saturday, the more he will improve.

LL has looked uncomfortable running the ball this year and that is what I'd imagine she saw more than anything. I wish he would be more willing to do it with his speed. In regards to passing, he's been pretty consistent this year, he just hasn't thrown much on average. He was averaging just over 20 throws per game before the CCU game. He threw that much in the first half.

This was all true before the season, yet it didn’t stop some from predicting he would be replaced a) before the season or b) before conference starts.

Clearly nobody behind him has shown themselves to be better, or better enough to lose a red shirt year. Just because they’re not playing doesn’t mean they’re not better.

    I think it does.

Lots of reasons go into these decisions. A freshman marginally better isn’t going to take his place this year. Coaches just don’t do that unless it’s Alabama in a national championship game.

I think Express meant that other QB's not playing now does not mean they will not be better than Lewis in the future. I think he understands they are not better than he right now.
