No, baseball is pretty much a timeless sport. Maybe Robe simply is in a talent slump, or maybe it is permanent but it has not passed him by the game is the same IMO.
Baseball is a different creature compared to the other spots due to the length to right the wrongs.
With that being said, this start has been very disappointing. It goes without saying that we are paying a premium now with the amenities that come with watching this team play. We have to improve very soon since the schedule won’t get any easier.
But no, the game hasn’t passed Robe by. People were saying the same thing after the 23-30 season in 2012, and we all know what happened after that.
Maybe Jeremy Talbot sucks at recruiting too
Robe is too loyal to his assistants. You can’t run a big program by demoting coaches who don’t get it done.
Who knows. The only thing clear is that performance is not even close to expectations and it all starts with the head guy.
Based on the way some of the people that work for me act, it is very challenging and while expecting the same as was of myself at that age, I've learned to go about it a different way. With the coaches and players today, it may be that people in the program aren't at the maturity level where tony's philosophy makes them successful. (sorry if this sounds jumbled - it didn't read well when I typed it but don't know what to change)
Tony sounds defeated and his coaching decisions are very suspect the last couple years. I'm really trying to figure out how the Tony of old turns to this.
In the past when a coach sucked, he'd find a booster to get that guy a job outside of baseball. I guess with the oilfield down it's not that easy.
You can’t expect a semi-retired Head Coach to perform at a high level. That’s what we have.
