There is a certain reason he is at FL and a few of our assistants are career assistants for life or well as long as Coach Robe is still the HC.

Find me one D-1 baseball program in this country that has started three position players from the same high school besides UL this year.

Probably would be hard pressed to find three players from the same high school period on the roster of a good D-1 program.

Just so everyone knows going in, this is referencing recruiting college soccer but probably is analogous in the modern game with all of the travel baseball and baseball showcases there are now. Similar to club soccer.

Many people that have that kind of drive face the same problems. I have seen small stories where he has his daughters in the dugout during games to spend time, though. If you don't have an understanding wife, coaching college athletics is a very tough career to maintain a marriage. Especially if you intend to be a good coach. For most coaches, the giant salaries are not available to offset not being there.

Recruiting changed forever when scout teams got big. High school games conflict with college season. Summer and fall scout team rosters are usually all college level talent. There might be a few guys reaching for the bottom rung, but the depth of talent dwarfs any high school game.

BUT, if there is a D1 catcher down the street, you get over there and scout his ___.

Also, my understanding is there are currently only three coaches who can recruit off campus, and those are Tony, Wells, and JT.

Makes sense for Bab's new position, but I didn't know Freeman couldn't recruit off campus.

The only coaches that can recruit off campus are the head coach and two paid assistant coaches.

15 years ago the coach at UCF would get his recruits from a school five miles away. They had a nice ball park, 50,000 enrolled and they usually had a mediocre team.
