My glimmer of hope right now is that other than LSU and coastal, I hope we played the 3 toughest teams on our schedule, and with any timely hitting or pitching we could be as good as 6-1, but that’s done. So our seniors need to have a come to Jesus meeting (maybe leave Jesus out of it) right the ship now. Win 2/3 the rest of the season puts you at 34-22 in the regular season. With the strength of schedule we could have a solid rpi with that record, but bubble bound we would be. Like most of our recent teams, need a good 8-10 game win streak somewhere along the way to make up for the start.
Season if far from over. I’m upset because ive seen this team (for the most part) last year right the ship and play some good ball. New season now and we’re back at square one. The slow starts are getting old. Let’s turn it around earlier this year.
Geaux Cajuns!!! Get the water hose out.
While your delivery of your message has been a little bit in your face which often breeds contempt, I would agree there is some validity in this post. When you have a program that has seen a measure of success over an extended period of time, a standard is set which breeds higher expectations. When these expectations are not being met (if we fail to reach the NCAA for the 3rd time in a row) for as long as ours have not been met, questions need to be answered even by a coach like Robe. Obviously, I'm not advocating for a change but if this year continued on its path and we missed the postseason once again, I would hope that Maggard would be having a discussion with Robe about meeting those expectations in the future.
not having Gunner this weekend hurt. Win or lose he would of eaten up some innings this weekend. I think this pitching staff could end up deeper than last years staff when it’s all said and done. But Burke, Batty, Armstrong, and Cox, have got to give us quality innings if we are going to win. Yea the double header didn’t help any but u gotta suck it up and get the job done. Bradford didn’t pitch at all this weekend. Was he available?
The way I see it, the two things which got A LOT of fans acting over the top are:
1. Tony putting Veillon in to pitch (resulting in a disaster)
2. Getting swept by a Southland team
HUGE bonus reason to bítch: the Southland team who swept us is coached by our former assistant. An assistant who apparently was the reason for a lot (if not all) of our success over the last decade.
Had Batty or Stone closed out game 1 for a win, Veillon never goes to the mound and we don't get swept. The season is currently still a mess, but the torches and pitchforks would have remained in the barn.
Had Veillon closed out the game for the win, Tony is f'n genius and we don't get swept. Thanks Tony.
My opinion, that was not the time to see what Veillon could do. Wednesday night with bases loaded at tech in the 9th was not the time to see what Colton frank could do either. Every other disappointment so far has been “ baseball”
