I would think this is a real good RPI win huh Brian?
Very good win. Summer is an elite pitcher. Need to not strand so many base runners but i'm happy with the win
Geaux Cajuns!!!
Well ... the Cajuns won, so it will not hurt them. But I feel that Baylor will have many more losses than normal this season. One of my scheduling axioms is that you want to avoid decent/good teams playing in strong conferences (avoid the middle of the strong conferences). This is because the risk of a loss is real ... and their W/L % will get beaten up by their strong schedule. Thus, the risk/reward is not nearly as good as playing an Oklahoma or a Texas (or playing a decent team from a weak conference). If the Cajuns sweep three from Baylor this season it will be a reasonable RPI boost. If they lose one, probably more around neutral. Lose two ... not good at all.
That said, the pure RPI calculation is not 100% of the tournament selection criteria. Baylor's schedule will help them achieve a good RPI rank. So this will help the Cajuns come selection time (record vs. Top RPI XX).
There are several aspects to "smart scheduling". It is not nearly about scheduling the Top RPI teams (which is something I have tried to stress to coaches over the years ... it is not nearly this simple). Doing so does not take advantage of the mathematical flaws in the formula. You want a mix of the various axioms. But if all you do is win, by brute force you take care of the RPI. :-)
Brian
Well I have a plan that will make everything a lot less complicated.
Cajuns win win win and keep winning until they hand Glasco and his team the Nat. Championship trophy.
Takes all the guess work out of it.
GEAUX CAJUNS
Poopoo Broussard could call games and say “yabba dabba doo” when we hit home runs. It would be oksy. Just saying. If this is what we’re worrying about with a top 10 team then we’re doing okay.
Not picking on you, alum, but this conversation regarding the radio broadcast happens each year. Let’s just enjoy it, ya’ll.
