From RPI perspective, both of us losing may work in our favor (after we lost obviously). Another game with Big XII Baylor is better than the alternatives I would think.

Makes sense to me. Kent St is a trip. Shutout win or run rule loss, depending on who is pitching.

So we lose 1 game, beat Kent State by 20, beat the Green 8, beat Baylor and we play in to consolation game? Cool.

Does winning this tournament matter that much? like I said, whatever needed to happen for us to play baylor again is a positive outcome. In terms of RPI, pick up one game we shouldn't or get that one extra sweep in conference and the loss today doesn't matter. Another Big XII game against a team who will have a good SOS is more valuable in the long run.

Yeah, I think it should have been round robin then the champ and consolation games based on record. They screwed the pooch with that seeded semifinal round.

The loss to NTexas really muddied the waters. In terms of opponent, Baylor was who we wanted to play again just based on the schedule they play. Although, Baylor isn’t representative of their ranking. They will fall out of the top 25 if we beat them tomorrow. A win against us might keep them reserving votes. 5-0 was the goal this weekend, but 4-1 with 2 wins against a current top 25 team ain’t bad.

    UL Softball Re: Baylor tournament

The North Texas loss will not be a factor as far as anything is concerned for the Cajuns this season. It won't keep them from hosting a regional or being a top 8 seed. UNT is picked to be one of the top teams in CUSA so they will likely have a good overall record.

Kent State is also picked towards the top of the Mid-American Conference. They will likely have a pretty good overall record. Playing them again probably could have been helpful.

Without Gia Rodoni, there is every possibility that Baylor will finish with a losing or very close to .500 record this season. They are likely to finish 5th in the Big 12 conference. A third game against them (one already played and one at Lamson on March 11) is unlikely to do much more to help the Cajuns from an rpi standpoint.

Next weekend is very likely going to determine if the Cajuns will be considered for a top 8 seed. Oklahoma is the only team the Cajuns will play that are virtually guaranteed to host a regional and likely a super regional. Oregon State may put themselves in a position to host a regional, a lot depends on what they can do in conference play. I expect it will be necessary for the Cajuns to go at least 3-1 next weekend if they hope to be considered for a top 8 seed.
