Changes to the Camellia intersection are everything but hassle free. At least that's what some Lafayette drivers are saying. Jessie Robertson has to drive through the intersection everyday to get to work. He says the major problem is the wait. "It takes 45 minutes just to get something to eat for lunch and come back.", but that's nothing new. The city of Lafayette is well aware of the problems at the light. That's why they've come up with a redesigning plan to fix it.
According to the plan, Camellia drivers will use a special left turn lane to get to Johnston. While drivers on Guilbeau crossing Johnston to Camellia will continue to drive straight across. The new plan proposes no left or right turn signals. Those will be replaced by full turning lanes.
