Game 1 against UT. Back to back lead off singles. Gavin was up to bunt them both over, but in true Cajun offense style, struck out looking after not being able to get a bunt down. Hayden was HBP next to load them up with 1 out.

So can't blame it on the bunt then.

Defense and small ball failed us - both aspects of the game that we have traditionally used to overcome other inefficiencies. Kinda strange.

Tired of reading about bunting costing us games. They are using metal bats. Need to be able to drive the ball in the gap and over the wall. Stop hoping to score runs by manufacturing and start producing.

Another side to it is that leg kick helps with timing if you have natural quickness and fast twitch. Even when those 2014 guys faced 96, they had their leg up when the pitcher was releasing the ball. I have always believed getting the front foot down to early can actually slow your swing down because it is out of rhythm with no momentum.

Josh Donaldson still is and that guy is elite with the stick when healthy.

Robe will never hire a guy that doesn’t involve small ball in their game plan. And who can blame him, it’s served us well. It’s frustrating as hell, and I get it, but this is the brand of ball we’ll always play.

Deggs used the bunt, but it was a small part of his plan at the plate. It wasn't his entire plan at the plate. Teams were surprised when we bunted. Now they expect us to bunt ALL THE TIME. They aren't afraid of anyone in the lineup.

I think our memory changes things as time goes on. Deggs beat Bama and LSU with the bunt that season. Many other games where it was a primary weapon. But I agree with the premise that, because we could rake, the bunt became so much more devastating.

Which is why I would like to see Mr. Todd Lott kick that long ___ leg of his. His hands are elite quick, he will adjust.

As long as JT is still around, we don't leg kick like that around here.
