More to my point, Robe's teams have ALWAYS lived and died with the pitching staff. We have no bullpen and are one injury away from a train wreck of a rotation.

I don't see how anyone looking at this situation would think we had a good shot at a regional.

Now, Robe may pull a rabbit this year. He's done it before, but it's not like we have 30 wins returning in the rotation and a squad about to set school records for home runs.
So when we lose Leger, Kasuls, Veillon, Monica, Lahare, and Bourgeois after this year, we will be screwed for next year? And then we lose more after that, and more after that. There will ALWAYS be new faces. Part of the job of coaching is to bring in true freshman and JUCO guys that can play. Just haven't been doing that great of a job since Deggs left.

Pitching is not the issue. Someone told me before the season started, after watching an intrasquad, that we will either be really good at hitting or we will be terrible at pitching. I assumed we would be really good at hitting because the one thing Robe has done well is piece together a pitching staff to make it work. Well, neither were correct. Pitching hasn't been TERRIBLE, but hitting and defense have.

The only building off the success of 2014 that was done was a new ballpark.

And it was pointed out numerous times after the 2018 debacle....Tony has never missed the postseason 3 years in a row. So what happens when we don't make a regional in 2019?
His experiment with Talbot has really set us back a few years. Not making regionals this year would not be a deal breaker for me as I pointed out the reasons for not expecting it.

Bottom line is that no coach at this university will be given more time to fix things than Robe, and rightfully so.

If we find quality Saturday and Sunday guys and a couple of reliable arms in the bullpen returning for next season with the same hitting system in place, there should be no more excuses.

Also, the pitiful production from a lot of those guys you mention will not be missed.

What about a Friday night guy next year? Will he be a new face? I'm done. No convincing you. Your koolaid must be spiked.

I agree 100%! No reason we shouldn't compete at every on an annual basis.

I absolutely HATE losing to Tech, and for some reason, we always seem to play like hell every time we play them.
Oiler....Tech DOES NOT have our number in baseball!

No joke...he can't be serious by saying that. Here are the stats from the Baseball website that I posted the other day:

"Louisiana leads the all-time series, 80-66, and has won six of the last 10 meetings between the two programs. Under head coach Tony Robichaux, the Ragin' Cajuns are 29-12 against the Bulldogs.

Especially when you consider that its 19 pages in length for the 4th game of the season and a midweek game at that. That's more activity than the football threads get and certainly more than basketball.

Six of last ten is hardly dominating.
