In actuality, he is correct as people did miss a good game. Of course I am sure the great majority of those people enjoyed whatever else they did last night and were not even considering going to a basketball game. I know some who went to HS games to support those programs. I have no idea what * said
I heard the comment and it's just people trying to drag down the program. As mike stated all he said was if you weren't at the game you missed a good one. He said the crowd was into and gave the team energy and he hopes that energy continues. I think some people think coaches stalk this board and what we are talking about and make comments based off of that. Ide rather have the 4500 fans that were there last night supporting a team on a three game losing streak than those that pretend to be supporter and stop going when the teams not winning. Kuddos to those that showed up! Was one of the more exciting games to be at in the cajun dome over recent years and I hope those in attendance felt the same, was a great night for the Louisiana brand.

You’re too nice Mike. Marlin knew exactly what he was conveying, and it was screw those not here. Sometimes things aren’t literal.

I have no qualms with that truthful statement.

It does not however rise to the level of "calling out fans" Saban called out fans.

He was talking to me, wish I could have been there.

From the beginning when the national anthem was played by a Cajun accordion musician folks were into the affair. The blackout was a success, the fans had enthusiasm, halftime entertainment was outstanding, the band/students exhibited energy throughout the game, and of course the effort by the team capped it all. Hopefully much of this came across in the television broadcast. I bet some did but it was probably difficult to capture it all. Those of you who watched it will have to answer how our brand was reflected in the broadcast. Kudos to the administration for the work that went into make last night happen. Another positive may have been that the JC recruits we are targeting may have had the opportunity to watch. Let's hope so.
I thought last night's telecast was outstanding. The facility looked great and the announcers were complimentary of our coach, the team and the university. I was a little worried pregame as ESPN showed Georgia State ve Louisiana Lafayette. But, when the game actually came on, it was Louisiana all the way. I thought it was a very positive night for our brand and for UL basketball.

Agreed. I watched the replay today and it definitely painted our brand in a good light. Except for the court. That thing gotta go

Well all I've got is a Cox index of channels. They're stuck on lafayette. I can't speak for ESPN because I hardly ever get their index of programs, but today's softball says Louisiana Ragin’Cajuns just like Texas Longhorns is used.

Like I said, I did not hear it but some people who did hear it thought nothing of it. It is to each his own how to interpret a remark. Only the individual who uttered it knows what was meant. However what he said was accurate in that it was an entertaining game.

Good to hear. Last night helped our brand and our administration needs to be complimented on the things they did to help promote the atmosphere around the game. I will say that our team has lots of limitations and all of us need to congratulate them in the effort they put out enabling them to defeat a team much more talented than they.

No need to mention people not attending. He lost me in the second year. As I was exiting a game we'd won after a non great start of season he's commenting on the lack of fans. I think he should have focused on those who made a big effort to attend like I did. Eyes of the beholder, okay, and ultimately that's what matters. You're not converting people by sly insults.

And the large negative response confirms it’s not well received.

At one time or another, every friend I've ever had has told me "you should've been there."

Almost universally it was after they had a good time.

Not well received by some but I am not sure how large the negative response is. Sure lots of posts about it here by a few folks but as I went around town today and the game became a topic no one was worried about what was said post game. They just wanted to enjoy the victory. What is said here does not always represent the universal viewpoint.
