I didn’t mention him after this game either.

About all I could have posted the past few games was “damn, that was a ______*y game.” But I think that sentiment was covered already.

I agree. While Justin does not have the typical basketball body and skill set, his career numbers will be better than some other "bigs" who were considered good players--Lonnie Thomas was a good post player for the Cajuns--Justin is on pace to have more points and rebounds than Lonnie. Justin is on pace to have more points than Marcus Stokes. He is on pace to have more points and rebounds than Dwayne Mitchell. He is on pace to have more rebounds than Marvin Winkler, Kevin Figaro, Larry Simon, Brett Smith, Michael Southhall, Dan Gay, Wayne Julien, Graylin Warner and Bryan Collins.


Instead of focusing on his faults, we need to enjoy what be brings to the team. He is a vocal leader on a team that is lacking vocal leadership. Gant and Stoman are great players but they are not vocal leaders--they are very quiet by nature.


One of my favorite presidential speeches is "The Man in the Arena" by Theodore Roosevelt. Justin is the man in the arena.

One of the most successful energy companies in the Gulf of Mexico is called Arena Energy. They are one of the most successful private companies in any field in the United States. Guys who started the company from scratch about 15 years are now billionaires. They base their company philosophy on that Theodore Roosevelt speech you referenced in that post.

What most of the " I'll stay home and show em" crowd doesn't get is all that does is hurt the players and overall atmosphere. Marlin has his money and extension. Nothing this year is changing that. If we get a large, active crowd for every game, the players feed off of that energy and everyone wins. Same goes for football. A full arena makes the experience better for everyone.

So we should drop $50-$70 a game to watch a team thats sub .500 in conference play because it's nice ?

And our brand is going to be exposed tonight on national TV. Another bad performance and a dismal crowd in a great facility will not help our brand.

I have to believe last night was a positive for our brand. The atmosphere in the Dome reminded me of the old days. From the beginning when the national anthem was played by a Cajun accordion musician folks were into the affair. The blackout was a success, the fans had enthusiasm, halftime entertainment was outstanding, the band/students exhibited energy throughout the game, and of course the effort by the team capped it all. Hopefully much of this came across in the television broadcast. I bet some did but it was probably difficult to capture it all. Those of you who watched it will have to answer how our brand was reflected in the broadcast. Kudos to the administration for the work that went into make last night happen. Another positive may have been that the JC recruits we are targeting may have had the opportunity to watch. Let's hope so.

For those sitting courtside- what was Simonds telling the front row with around 2:00 left?

I was a couple of rows up and couldn't quite hear him (but it looked interesting) he was smiling then started releasing f bombs or something of that sort

After missing several he hit 2 threes in the row. He ran by us who was on the under end of the court from cajunfan and stuck his young up and making gestures towards us at about 5 mins left, he missed a couple big shots and I started yelling where's your tongue now. He turned and started yelling at is then. The ref asked him not to talk to the crowd.
