Every year that passes where he accomplishes one of the above increases his odds of departure significantly.

Even Boise couldn't keep their guys. It's just the nature of the game. What Napier is doing however, is showing everybody that the intangibles here are through the roof, and the list of applicants for this job will be even better than when Hud left.

I'm just praying for 2 more signing classes with Nape before he cashes in.
I must watch a different team than you. We are devoid of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball and only have a few difference makers on the entire team. If we are lucky we will have a few more in this years class.
The way this team is currently constructed we cannot beat a P5 team unless they are in a complete rebuild mode like a Kansas or Arkansas.
I expect the path to having a serviceable defense will be difficult and may take a couple of years. At this point I am actually more worried about UL being mediocre in football than someone taking our coach. If Napier can develop a QB and somehow fill all the holes we have on defense this year I will start worrying about losing him to a high profile program.

Love our coach, but he is not done anything to warrant getting a more high profile job. Last year showed we are not even close to being good on defense or QB. We all expect improvement, but we are a ways away from being a G5 power.

Btw, it was a fantastic write up. Probably one of the best I’ve seen on the Cajuns.
This thread reminds me of the talk after HUD's first year. Let's see what happens.

I want every coach we hire to recruit better than his predecessors. IMO to be most successful as a stepping stone program we need a staff to stay together for 3-4 years and then get hired away.

It’s exactly the same. I will not jump to conclusions this time. Let’s see if this staff can improve and beat a few good teams. I still don’t think the talent level is even close to G5 powers.

Yes, agree. But, they are very different coaches, too say the least.

He signed 25 (3)star recruits! I dont see a drop off next year, like we saw with Hud. He's genuine, smart and has the blueprint. Apparently these kids are buying too.

And has connections in the business and comes from a ridiculous coaching tree. The QB Coach from the rams is the HC of the bengals for crying out loud.

I loved the results of Hudspeth first year. I was never comfortable with his coaching. Eventually that very first year was his undoing. Getting caught with hands in the cookie jar. Even once removed doomed him.

It’s highly unlikely that one of the 2 freshman play this year unless they are absolute studs. Could happen but not likely. That leaves us with Levi and 2 jucos. I don’t see Lewis being any lower than 2nd string and only one play away from being a starter. Doubt he transfers.

We also have Gibson who will be a factor.. lewis will be buried on the depth chart come fall he is not a d1 QB and it will show. He might be listed as #2 to save face but if javi goes down BK or Gibbons takes over as #1 QB
