At this stage, I am happy for the guys that are working so hard to improve and getting rewarded for their efforts. The coaching staff is helping them of course but their potential may be limited due to their issues. Those include lack of athleticism making it tough on them defensively, rebounding concerns due to playing three guards most of the time, and lack of quality depth. Those will be tough to overcome in many games even if John Wooden was coaching them. In the last few games they have done a good job of managing these issues which gives them a chance. On the positive side, the improved perimeter shooting is a nice development. Having four guys being able to hit them gives you a chance as any one of them could be ready to go off on any given night. As the coaching situation is not going to change this year or next for better or worse, I suggest we focus on the team itself. As evidenced by a good atmosphere last night, many are doing exactly that.
I thought it was a realistic post with a positive twist. Giving them credit for overcoming their issues which are not going away was actually meant as a huge compliment to the entire team. I thought I was responding to those bringing the coaching staff into it which is immaterial at this point. I also complimented the crowd and the way they came to life late in the contest. That was the most encouraging thing about last night to me in fact. I am in the boat all the way to the end. That will be the case if we make it to shore or sink. Will also be the case whoever is captain. Sorry if I came across as overly negative. That was not my intent.
Lack of quality depth and athleticism = Not good.
You can argue all you want. In fact you did a fabulous job to EXPRESS my point. After that, I’m staying out of it.
As you just did, I’ll continue to call it like I see it.
If you have an issue with that, and feel compelled, please continue to EXPRESS yourself.
I’ll now hang up and listen.
