At this stage, I am happy for the guys that are working so hard to improve and getting rewarded for their efforts. The coaching staff is helping them of course but their potential may be limited due to their issues. Those include lack of athleticism making it tough on them defensively, rebounding concerns due to playing three guards most of the time, and lack of quality depth. Those will be tough to overcome in many games even if John Wooden was coaching them. In the last few games they have done a good job of managing these issues which gives them a chance. On the positive side, the improved perimeter shooting is a nice development. Having four guys being able to hit them gives you a chance as any one of them could be ready to go off on any given night. As the coaching situation is not going to change this year or next for better or worse, I suggest we focus on the team itself. As evidenced by a good atmosphere last night, many are doing exactly that.
