No doubt, but you should ALWAYS control the things you have control over. Payton didn't do that. He can't control the refs but he can control his clock management, and it was terrible on that series.

A completion (without the interference) would have done exactly what you suggested.

Saints ought to file suit, ask for a preliminary injunction and demand that the game be replayed from that play forward with the appropriate penalty enforced.

Edit: they could do that this coming weekend right before the Pro Bowl.

Where did i say $500? Hold his pay for that game which is roughly around $10k. Demotion, fines, not eligible for post season will cost them a lot of money....but you are right, much better to do nothing. This was egregious, not even a questionable call. This was either you are totally incompetent or you are on the take type of missed call. At worst you throw the flag and discuss, if all agree it wasn’t PI they pick up the flag like they do all the time. This wasn’t hand checking..he crushed the guy. Even if Lewis catches it, there should have been a flag for helmet to helmet.

Absolutely terrible no-call and people should be fired. There is not even a kind of legitimate argument against that.

But if Payton just runs the ball three times, and forces the Rams to use their timeouts then kicks the field goal, they would have had a much much much better chance to overcome the epically bad no call (x2, don't forget the helmet to helmet on the same play). That was some ____ poor time management by a guy who should know better.

A run was called on first down after the Ginn reception at the 2 minute warning. Brees checked out of it.

He was not going to make a game changing call at that point, period. He was not quick enough mentally to realize that the decision he made was a game changing "no call."

.........what about the bouncing ball close to the punt returner that looked like it hit him and was taken in for a TD......with no replay this probably wins it for KC..... but the play was over ruled and Pats got possession .....the screen don’t lie no!

So there are no rules at the end? The defender made the game changing the mistake, it’s the officials job to call it regardless of when it happens. He f’n tackled the guy. Sent him flying in the air. It wasn’t 3 fingers on a jersey
