Thread: NFC Champioship Decided by Inept Referees

  1. UL Football NFC Champioship Decided by Inept Referees

This would have been an egregious missed call at any point, in any game. That it came with less than two minutes left in the NFC conference championship, when a first down would have effectively ended the game and sent New Orleans to the Super Bowl, is incomprehensible. It feels so unlikely, so impossible, that the players in the room don’t seem to even know how to react.

I know nothing can be done. The game is over and the Saints season is over. I will say what I have to say and care less if anyone thinks the same. That no interference call was intentional in my opinion. The NFL has a problem with rogue referee's and they are aware of it. If truth be told, anyone asked the question, "WAS IT INTERFERENCE", and they answer honestly even if its the Rams coach they would say "Yes". But what would the answer be from the Rams side line. "we have no control what the referee's call on the field". So the NFL say let's bring the game to the west coast where the money is.....my thought's and I'm sticking to it......

Good Lord. How does this happen today with a gazillion camera angles and more refs than fans in the stands?

Ryan Clark noted on one of the morning sports shows that there was a trifecta of penalties on that one play that could have been called...interferrnce, helmet to helmet, and face guarding...

Face guarding was gotten rid off a long time ago.

Thought the same thing. How many times do you see not one, but multiple flags thrown on a play like that. You know more than one ref saw that, and not one took the flag out of his pocket. Hell, the ref in the background in the picture above is staring at the play; it may not be his call, but he sure as hell can see it. I'd like to see an overhead shot just to see where all of the refs were positioned and if they had a view of the play. The whole group should be fired.

I'm sure none of you had a problem with this bad call...or any of the other fortunate calls the Saints got throughout the year. You can't have it both ways. You live by the sword...you die by it.

I have no problem acknowledging when we benefit from a call throughout the season. The keyword here is that we got calls through the year and we had some doozies go against us. The problem is that those calls didn't affect anything bigger than the game at that time. The call yesterday affected the entire game and a trip to the SB. You can't even compare them.

And that wasn't a MISSED call, that was a NO CALL.....

but referees are supposed to be consistent and call the same no matter when and where, by bringing into the conversation thinks like importance of game, time of game etc, you go against that principle of consistancy. it is impossible to have both. missing the call or not is a different conversation. a simpler example is shouldnt the same pitch be a strike in first inning of fall ball as it is in ninth inning of super regional?
