VANCOUVER, British Columbia — It's hard to get a read on these medaling kids.

The young U.S. men's hockey team ensured itself of at least a silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics by throttling a veteran Finnish squad, 6-1, Friday in the semifinals at Canada Hockey Place. The Americans rattled Finland with six goals in the first 12 minutes, 46 seconds, including two by Patrick Kane.

"It was a crazy 12 minutes to be a part of," Kane said. "I've never been a part of something like that where it seemed like we were scoring every shift, which is pretty amazing. After that, we pretty much just had to play defense and keep it safe."
