Thread: Louisiana Offers West Monroe Defensive End

  1. UL Football Louisiana Offers West Monroe Defensive End

When he told his mother Libby the news Tuesday, Andrew Gleason was positive he had never heard her scream quite like that.

The West Monroe senior defensive end had just informed her that UL had extended him his first full, collegiate scholarship offer, and neither one of them could hold back their excitement.

    From the article:

Gleason said Sale told him the Ragin' Cajuns like his tenacity, toughness and his quickness off the ball. UL offering him first, plus a former West Monroe teammate Dalvin Hutchinson already signed in the 2019 class are all aspects the defensive end likes about the Cajuns.

But Gleason said he plans to wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 6 to see if any other schools come forward with an official offer. If not, he’s more than ready to sign with UL.

“They’re my top choice right now. I like that they gave me a scholarship offer first, that’s pretty cool. I’m going to wait and see and see what comes my way,” Gleason said.

In the meantime, Hutchinson continues to talk up the Cajuns' program.

Said Gleason: “He was just telling me we’re building something special down there and I should come be a part of it.”

    .........................

That last sentence. We've heard that from a number of recruits. I like it.

He should be ready for this fall if he signs, or at least that's what I understand.

He must have a high end potential... The injury must have scared others away.

"The 6-foot-3, 240-pound edge rusher entered the 2018 campaign coming off an ACL injury and went out to lead the Rebel defense with 12 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hurries. His 87 total tackles were good enough for second-highest for West Monroe, which lost to Zachary, 27-24, in the Class 5A state championship last month."

    Big kid.

How many spots do we have left? I would think not many

Does he have the luxury of waiting until then to decide?

He's rolling the dice. May regret it.
