If Justin Miller were to go down, he'd be the best player we've ever had and the team wouldn't be able to win without him. I think we all understand that the team is better with MM, but the season should not be a total loss just because he went down. But you already see the posturing. Remember when Russell was the best recruit we signed out of HS in years? Yea, seems like a loooooong time ago.
Oh, it'll definitely be the talking point if we miss out on the postseason. We will miss out because "we lost Marquetti." Just like we heard how the Tech loss was due to "Gant getting hurt in the first half." Or better yet, some attempted to sugar coat the loss by mentioning that we had previously beaten Tech so many times before this match-up as if it justifies getting spanked by them at home.

Before the season, the talking point was the fact that any shortcomings would be due to losing Stove, Washington, and Bartley. And this was before the season even began! We hadn't even played a game yet. So, for those who wonder why people complain more about basketball, it's exactly this. There's always an excuse or a justification for underachievement within the program while these coaches are getting paid top notch salaries compared to our conference foes.

Quit making excuses, quit sugar coating our program as if we are some powerhouse, and go out there and earn your nice salary. Plain and simple.

That shouldn't be hard to understand.

When last season ENDED UL had 41 years of experience on the roster.

When this season BEGAN there was 22 years of experience on the roster.

Kobe was the only freshman we signed ready to be great. His injury was known, but Marlin had only role players and projects. So losing Marquetti, plus Kobe actually was a big hit. Now Cajuns Mike has documented that Russell had a preseason injury. No doubt he’s not hitting open threes like he did last year.

The projects, IMO was Gladney maybe viewed as a great redshirt freshman next year. Don’t know if we knew about his concussion issues. Clearly Lafayette seems a 3 year project if ever.

So losing Kobe last January was a big blow. It’s not one guy this year.

He’s gotta do a better job of getting freshman who can possibly be all conference at some point. And have significant freshman years

So, we should just set up that narrative before any games are even played like it was this year?

Yes, losing those three guys was a big blow. But we should have enough talent already to not have to use this line of thinking before the season even starts.

The worst part is the lazy defense. Multiple times gsu would dribble it up against a set defense make 1 pass to a guy for a wide open 3. Way too easy for d1 basketball.

One was why not to expect a repeat of 27 wins.

Next year part of the "recruit better" demands will have been met.

We are losing 3 P5 transfers with all the experience so we will regress from this year by that theory. So on to 2021 where will again have lost 3 seniors with a bunch of experience and will regress..when does it end?

Look, if we go 6-0 from March 12 to March 24, I’m willing to completely forget that we’re now paying Marlin over half a million dollars per year.

At least I’ll forget it for the next season...then we’ll revisit.
