I’m not sure we’re talking about the same thing. My comment was about it not mattering if somebody goes or not, they still should complain about an ineffective coach. I’m not going to WBB on any kind of regular basis, but some number of people will go if they expect to be entertained. Losing often isn’t entertainment.
We’re not getting rid of WBB so we’ll go one of two ways. Spend as much as we can to be much better, or as little as possible to fulfill a Title IX requirement.
Currently UL seems satisfied threading water, but we’re actually losing ground. I’m not sure Broadhead will ever be the answer, but it doesn’t look good.
You'd have to cut scholarships somewhere else. Women's basketball has 15 scholarships (men have 13). Bowling is not a sanctioned sport so no scholarships allowed, and golf is an equivalency sport that only allows 4.5 scholarships per year. Besides if you drop women's basketball you have no chance of ever moving to another conference.
Women basketball using the Cajundome is a Title 9 issue. You must provide equal treatment to both sexes in opportunity and facilities. If the men play in the Cajundome then the women should play there also. This was one of the main reasons that the women went to the Cajundome.
