So, would the solution be to turn down the bowl?

Unfortunately, postseason games for football cost money to participate in just by the cost of attendance and travel. It's almost as if we don't have a choice if we want to play in one. Otherwise, we would have the decline the invite which would hurt recruiting. Basketball, on the other hand, seems to invent a new postseason tournament every few years.

Should note that after we made money in New Orleans, the league decided to pass a revenue sharing bill so those schools who made money at the bowl have to share with the rest of the league. I also think the conference also offsets some of the debt teams incur by playing in bowls.

I always knew a women's basketball coaches salary would be my downfall

No, my solution is definitely not to turn down the bowl...but the whole conversation is beating up basketball and turned to what is costing us money and what are we getting the most return for our buck on...if money well spent is the hot topic here, lets be honest with our selves: outside the diamonds, we aren't getting anything back (currently)...lets critique all sports, not just single out the Big Fish

As far as this goes...new bowls pop up every year, same thing...I get the argument that it's an invite by the NCAA, but if you have to pay your own way to show up, is it any different?....and the TV excuse doesn't work....1/2 of Lafayette (the only target audience for our game this year b/c we all know Tulane doesn't have any fans) couldn't catch the channel on LUS...
