Well, let's think about it for a second. Hill is coming back from surgery, Booker hasn't played much and they are clearly recruiting above him now. Higgins is a motor guy on the small side, they are recruiting over him. Porter and Mapieu should have been RS, but had to play do to lack of depth. Hayes, Ochoa, Wilkerson, Hutchinson and Cobb are unproven. It makes prefect sense to me to recruit several JC linemen to add depth and experience to this group.
In fact, this staff is building the program the right way by improving talent on the OL and DL through HS signees. They will add a few JC signees to add depth and experience while these groups mature, but we will be extremely young on the DL this season.
So has he committed? Every criminal says he’s innocent, every innocent man says it’s a mistake. I’m gonna leave those decisions to the coaches. If they make many mistakes it’ll sink them. Unfortunately might sink us, but that’s why we’ve got Maggard the guy riding heard over overzealous coaches.
Wait a minute. You're trying to tell me that this football staff is actually evaluating the talent we have on hand, noting when said talent will graduate, and then trying to recruit above those talent levels and to fill holes they foresee developing in the near future?
Someone sit 'em down with the basketball staff for 30 minutes.
Not sure how you're arriving at that conclusion.
Will not at least some of the JC transfers be eligible for 3 years of play? While I'm no fan of constantly loading up on JC transfers because of the associated turnover problems, I can certainly see where bringing in few in to fill holes while our best HS recruits get up to snuff (and up to size) is sound policy.
Im fine with the JUCO guys just we are way more depleted than originally thought especially on defense where we but 20+ scholarships into defense the last 2 classes and still have major holes and depth issues. Shows how mismanagement the program ran under Hudspeth.
It was so bad, linebackers quit the team and a former wide receiver was the starting cornerback. Of all the defensive backs we signed between the 2014-2016 classes, only one cracked the starting lineup this year and he was a 5th year senior. That's telling!
Bro....we need players. Taking JUCO guys with three years left would be no different than starting a redshirt freshman. The only difference is the JUCO guys have documented in-game experience. That mitigates some of the risk of throwing a true freshman out on the field.
If Napier can get one more three year JUCO guy at QB, linebacker and defensive back, we should be set.
