Hind sight is 20/20 but the program appears to have peaked last year. How does that old stock market disclaimer go? ' Past performance is no predictor of future performance'. Hope I'm wrong but it's difficult to see a return to the NCAAs for MBB in the near future.

Once in two decades isn’t acceptable. No wonder there’s apathy. No excitement for the younger generation. The older are dying, and moving.

I can tell you from the younger people I’ve recently spoken to, more feel that apathy than those who don’t.

And let me reiterate like I have before. I don’t want Coach Marlin gone by any means, and I support his contract extension. But I would like to see the product improved from what we have seen over the last month. We have way too many resources for this program compared to our peers to be 4-5 in the Sun Belt. Let’s see if we can turn the corner staring tomorrow night.

We all want the product improved. I'm curious to know how you support the contract extension though. You yourself have said how his consistent tenure here has been lacking true success but you supported the extension? To me, that's part of the problem.

I see no probelm paying a guy half a mill a year to get skull dragged by an App state team with 4 D1 wins and who's coach makes less than half of what Marlin does.

Lets double down and not only give him a raise but add years to his contract...

Because the contract extension and raise adds value to the job whether or not it’s him filling it. When there’s success, there’s justification for it. When there’s shortcomings, everything is exposed. Plus, it makes the job more attractive for the next person who would fill it in the future.

This job, like any, is an investment into the program. When we lose, I’m critical just like I am with any other sport. Some may claim that I’m “contradicting myself” mainly because they might not like the criticism. But it’s plain and simple. As a fan, I try to hold all of our coaches accountable. Coach Marlin gets his raise with his extension, and I like the fact that it adds standards to our program. But we now need to match those standards. And if they’re not met, fans will criticize.

His current contract calls for incentives to be paid out with certain "successes". Why do we have to pay more out and extend? If you are brought in and paid to win, why does an extension with multiple years left on the current deal need to be added. This does nothing to improve the coaching spot if Marlin vacates. Why not just decrease the base pay and make the contract more incentive laden?

Adding a raise and an extension do nothing to raise the standard of our program.

Ive said that this summer lower his base to 200K and increase his incentives where he could make well over 525k if he checked all the boxes

Because the base pay is the first thing people look at.

Better recruiting styles will lead to getting bigger better players. Who is the recruiting coordinator?
