We also beat Tulane and UNO. We could not have beaten any of them with a performance like we had against Tech however. Tech also would have beaten lots of teams the way they shot the ball that night

    C'mon man.

And,, you referring to this program as a "turd" means you need to get out more. There are plenty of turd programs in D-1. This is not one of them.
I said make the postseason more consistently. That means more than twice in 15 years. Is that too much to ask for the money that we are investing into the program? Nope, it's not.

And when I hear constant excuses of why we can't succeed or reach goals, guess what? That's a "turd" mentality.

I know it’s an apples and oranges comparison but our football team just had a season where they exceeded expectations and ended up as one of the top teams in the conference and lost in the conference championship game. They then went on to one of the “other” bowl games and most looked at that as a sign of success. They were able to continue the season and get a few more weeks of practice. If your one of the top 4 teams in the conference in basketball, lose in the semis or championship game go on and do the exact same thing.
I did practice plagiarism to some degree by stealing from one of your earlier post. My apologies. Someone asked why current contract for the coach goes through 2022. He may not be aware that is due to a recent extension given by the AD. Regular season title last season and being honored with the Coach of the Year award in both the conference and state probably contributed to that decision.

Why not wait until the end of the conference season? What's the rush? He's not going anywhere. I don't remember hearing any interest from other schools after that championship last year.

No need to apologize, I’m flattered. I have trusted your opinion on Cajun Basketball for the 15 or so years I have been on this board.

This has been the point that we have been trying to make since that extension was given. The only answer people give is because he won conference and runs a clean program. My initial response to that is along the lines of isn't he supposed to do that? Isn't he the highest paid coach in the league to win or compete for conference titles every year and run a clean program? I thought that those were goals established by he and Maggard but maybe not. He had two years left on his deal. I just didn't see why there was any rush to go out and extend him for it.

Last year was fun and exciting. If Marlin can make that a trend, I have no issues with him as my coach but I want expectations to rise like they have in other sports before we reward him every time he has success.

There are 68 teams in the NCAA and 32 in the NIT. That makes 100 team slots that are selected between the two tournaments. There are only 70 team slots for FBS Bowl games. It is not comparable period. If your basketball team can not finish in the Top 100 teams in post season play, it has not business playing period.

I see that as no different than participating in a bowl with a 6 and 6 record. Yes bowls do invite you but you generally lose much more money by being in those than you will ever will by participating in the CIT. We had some private RCAF donors cover our expenses in this year's CURE Bowl so as the school would not lose money. Kudos to those guys.
Yes, I messed up CBI & CIT CBI is the better of the 2.

You should strive for the NCAA even the NIT every year if they don't make either they should sit at home just like a 6 -6 teams that's rewarding mediocrity.

Not close to comparable. Much easier to make a bowl game these days. Half of FBS teams make a bowl. You have to be really bad to miss out.
