Ragin4U stated "Come up with a program that is in the same situation and has sustained, top-tier success, because I don't really see one." You replied with Houston and I pointed out that they are NOT in the same situation and now I'm moving the target.

If however you think we are in the same situation as Houston, then I can't rebuke your point of view
Weather sucks and I can’t fly. Drives my postings up.

What is Houston trying to accomplish?

    Not one reference to it.

Not even a good wish for Marquetti.

    Lame.
Agreed. Although I've been trying to find a news article — any article — that either confirms this or even talks about it. None. Also, lame.

Thanks for the info. This injury and Gant's ought to be the story about UL right now. The fact that there is none says a lot about Lafayette media.

I’m sure he’ a great young man, but lacks the talent of Plaisance so we have experience with this type player.

No doubt recruiting IMO has been Marlin weakness. Too many lost battles, too many misses. Bob understands the game, can teach the game, but sadly hasn’t for nearly a decade been able to get enough talent to be really good.

Last year a prime example. Absolutely shouldn’t have lost to LilRock because Stove was out. Maybe Arlington but even that’s a stretch.

Good luck with the good coach, of course I’d prefer the better, and best option.
    No argument from me.

Gant wasn’t injured further in this game. The first post in this thread explained Marlins view of that injury. He was 75% and fully functional. His only problem was that it’s still tender if he falls on it. They’re probably going to do an MRI on Marquetti today which is typical for a Saturday night injury.

The injuries are in fact confidential information and it’s up to the student athlete how much information is released. If I’m Marlin as little as possible.

Mike Murphy was on 103.7 FM today. He confirmed that an MRI on Malik was going to be performed today and they would know something this afternoon. I am not sure when the public will find anything out.

I don't think we outspend UTA on basketball as that is their focus. I also think middle of the pack is fifth through seventh, not first through fourth. Granted these are quibbling details and it is reasonable to expect more. The actual coaches and players expect more out of themselves. Unfortunate the injury but has hit us for the second straight year and I have a hard time seeing us challenging for the regular season title. Maybe we can heal up, finish strong, and be a factor in the tournament.

    Is it a leg injury?

I can understand the school not wanting to broadcast things. It's the media's job to find out and report about it.

Texas and California probably produce a lot of players simply because of population and LA.
The point of that post was that someone said we should model ourselves after Butler, a private basketball only school in Indiana. And that's apples and oranges.
So what about New Mexico or New Mexico State? San Diego State? Schools that have been relevant on the basketball map as mid majors but don't have tremendous recruiting bases. I know that San Diego State has a California population but they also have a ton of Universities and Juco's to fight over their players. How about Nevada? Not a basketball hotbed but all of a sudden, they are relevant. Houston is a comparison. Truth is, for every school we could name, there is likely a rebuttal as to why they shouldn't be named.
