I don't enjoy them. Only stating facts that disappointing is different than mediocre. Disappointing is a feeling and if Marlin had two or three notable wins in the last 5 years, he would be viewed differently by us fans.

Hunter isn't very good that’s why he’s still at GaSt, but he's definitely the best SBC coach over the long haul. He gets to check the following boxes. Round if 32, multiple NCAA appearances, NIT, regular season championship. At the end of the day it's the SBC he's dominating, and Bob isn't.
Depends on your view of noteable. To me that’d be a team that’s in the NCAA often, and round of 32 regularly. Good wins definitely top 150, and he’d need more than two or 3 between noteable and good.
I hope you understand I’d have a different view of Bobby Boy if UL history was more like Nicholls.
You are making my point for me. One more NCAA appearance (granted, he got to 2nd round), same number of NIT appearances, and one more regular season championship.
So, based on your description, if Marlin wins the regular season championship and gets to the NCAA this season, he is as good as Hunter?
For the record, I think Marlin is a better coach than Hunter, but definitely isn't the recruiter Hunter is. Hunter is better overall because his is that much better a recruiter and Marlin is a marginally better coach.
Disagree that UL would be better off if football dominated and MBB was dropped. Researching Butler's program after our conversation last night, their 2011 and 2012 tourney runs got them an estimated $1.2 billion in publicity alone. Now, we would have to catch lightning in a bottle to get close to two NCG in a row but there is a lot of money to be made in basketball.
While many of you are complaining about beating Southeastern ( we were in Hammond because it's a two for one, to answer one complainers question) back to the reality at hand.
Malik Marquetti's injury appears to be serious. He could be out a month or more.
And, that's a serious blow to this team.
As far as the scheduling is concern, remember we go to 20 conference games next year. Plus, if Mark Adams is successful with his scheduling consortium, that would make 22. We will continue to play Tech and McNeese and we have Southeastern coming back to Lafayette next year. That's 25. We play at Arizona State. 26. We'll play in an MTE. 27. And if they do the dreaded pair of non-D1's that concludes the schedule.
There is not an East and West. We have an 18 game schedule where we play 7 teams twice and four teams once. It was done somewhat at random which schools were slated for the one game deals. Obviously they paired it geographically where we go to the Texas schools once on the road and the Alabama schools at home. Next year we will have 16 scheduled games where we play 5 teams twice and six teams once. We will have 20 conference games. The last four conference games will be against teams near you in the standings after 16 games. To have that be logistically feasible, I am sure they will set up two on the road on a Thursday/Saturday and two at home in the same setup.
I may be the only fan of a SBC school that does not have a problem with Coach Hunter. Maybe that is because I respect what he has accomplished playing in a HS type gym in a pro city. Granted that city provides plenty of recruiting opportunities. Of course he irritates fans by being on the court so much. Maybe he does that because he knows it distracts the opposing team and coaches from focusing on the game like they should. No doubt they are the premier team in the league since they came on board.
Get real man. Supporting football and supporting basketball isn’t one or the other. Look at MTSU or WKU.
We pay about $300k more than we should for what we get out of Bob Marlin. I promise you we could pay someone like David Patrick or hell even Brad Boyd half of what we pay Marlin and get the same results with this schedule.
We accept a mediocre team with good results with a terrible schedule. It’s ok if we were destroying teams by 30, but we aren’t. Bob Marlin is so vastly overpaid.
