Attendance at the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, the third lowest attendance in their history.
Only North Texas/Cincinnati (2002) and the NO Bowl in Lafayette were more sparsely attended.

That’s what conference gets for pulling that stunt in the final two weeks of the regular season. They can reap what they sow with that dismal number.
There were more people at the West Monroe vs Zachry state championship game this year
Just curious - why is this newsworthy?
Cure Bowl attendance was even worse ....
The SBC conference winner and runner up should have first and second choice of any bowl game within the SBC bowl tie in. We have to operate different from the P5 schools. We have to keep our product as close to the fan base as possible.
Bowl games should also get smart and partner with regional conferences. The Independence Bowl has Temple vs Duke this year. No one will attend that game. Imagine if that was Tulane vs UL in primetime. Folks would get hotels, gamble for a night, eat, drink and be happy.
It only makes sense.
The Cure bowl was going to be bad considering who played in it. Two teams that had to fly. I don't think it would have been much better if App played in it, though.
Making the decision to pre-place SunBelt teams in our bowls is not a good thing. You need to maximize attendance as much as possible by keeping bowls relatively drivable. Match ups can help (like at least having Nevada close to the Arizona Bowl may help), but if you have teams from the east going to NOLA as champs, you're not going to sell a lot of tickets to the premier bowl game destination our conference has. I promise you the New Orleans Bowl folks were BIG Cajun fans in the Conference Championship game. In spite of our poor home attendance this year, you would have had much more than 23k.
