Nobody here should be laughing at this since there were (at best) 3k people in a 70k seat stadium for our bowl game. I'll hold on to my chuckles.

but we also had least notice and went to a place that is usually booked for holidays anyway, charges for parking, and was a repeat bowl opponent, and our coach hates our school colors they are playing a two yr undefeated team in an easy, cheap place to travel to with perfect weather this time of yr

In all fairness bowl tickets have always been fairly cheap on the secondary market. A couple years ago when Oklahoma played Auburn in the Sugar Bowl tickets were that cheap.

I mean that’s what happens when you create a last minute football game between two teams whose fan bases live hundreds of miles away. When you add in expensive last minute flights and expensive ___ hotel rooms you’re knocking on $1,000/person for the game. And that’s only if you don’t have holiday plans.

This bowl game thing is really stupid when you think about it.

anyone thought of a way to separate the revenue from non espn bowl games? seems we could still get our conf share of the espn games same as teams that dont go to bowls get, then the two cbs games could share separately just among four teams?

so maybe there arent too many bowl games, just too many before christmas? imagine if many games could be on tv simultaneously on different networks? ....magic wand style?

I think that's a pipe dream at this point. There's simply nowhere to go. Even if the P5 became the P4 by jettisoning off a few of its low achieving members, aligning with those cast away's in some sort of scheduling alliance wouldn't change anything. We'd still be in the group of have not's, though I guess we'd be in the tallest midget club.

I suppose I need to take back everything I said earlier about us needing to take heed of La Tech's bowl winning streak. Nothing anybody does at the G5 level will really change anything.

I shouldn't be such a richard head, I apologize to Oiler. The problem I have with people who seem to want to give up before even trying is this:

People who know a boatload more about this stuff than I.......the business of college athletics........believe there are some major changes coming over the next 5-7 years for programs in our situation because the current models are unsustainable. I believe them.

Okay, so we don't know exactly what those changes might be yet. But does it not make sense to do everything possible to prepare, and to put yourself in the best possible position when the target becomes more clear?

My dad always said that luck was when preparation and opportunity crossed paths.

I expect our program to be prepared and damned lucky as well!
