That is not how things played out the last time realignment happened. We were left out while La Tech was included.

All I'm saying is that we dismiss La Tech's accomplishments with their football program at our own peril. Though Cajun fans may have no respect for anything about Tech, some that matter apparently do, and it is these people that really matter. It is their PERCEPTION of how we stack up against schools like La Tech and others in CUSA and the SBC that will determine our destiny in any kind of realignment. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, we lost this battle during the last realignment that took place.

sounds like those are the reqts to quote un quote move up...but nobody wver seems to analyz e those that are “already up”. quite a few in a certain network hawked conf that have falling quite a few slots academically over last 8-10 years, and im sure their market size was always up for debate. also fan support isnthere, but i would argue what percnt of fans are alum.

Football is without question one of the pillars to realignment...whatever that means anymore.

Look, when the cards fall the Cajuns and Tech will likely be together in a regional conference with the likes of Southern Miss. and Rice.

Our desire and strategy to become a member of the AAC is unprecedented to our history and we finally have all the pieces in place to make a legitimate case...unfortunately I just don't see the AAC either expanding or being plucked by P5 conferences. Therefore the above statement with a regionalized Sun Belt/CUSA is likely the future.

We wern't "left out"....we didn't even try to move....showed no interest in moving. Meanwhile Tech was chewing through the front door of the CUSA office to get an invite.

What actually happened was Tech said "we want in" an UL's admin said "we're not ready."

The year Tech joined CUSA, UL was about to go to its 3rd straight bowl and Tech had been twice in 10 years.

And now, the Sun Belt is a better league than CUSA.

I really think that Sunbelt, MAC, CUSA etc are all in the same boat. They (we ) are have nots and the P5 are the haves. We missed the boat a long time ago (I don't think we were ever close though), but thanks to previous administrations we have been pushed further behind than we could have been. Now, our fate is to stay afloat one way or another. I think that will be more difficult to do as the money grab by the haves gets more intense. College football is in a nuclear race and we don't have the ammunition or the guns to shoot with.

However, I still think we are in a better position than Tech or ULM because of our population base and media markets. Ole Miss and Mississippi state should be thankful they have been in the SEC since forever. I don't think they would make it today.

The beautiful thing is that Tech will probably have to sell a building or some of the kids kidneys to make up for all of the money that they lost on the bowl game.

Bet that the Lamers hate the guys who opted out of the SEC way back when.
