The idea is that if you are not happy with the direction of the program, as a fan, you want your voice heard. This typically manifests itself in attendance, donations etc.. You have seen it in football over the past few years and the impact its had on the program. In basketball, Maggard is sending the message that Ok is Ok. Attendance will likely stay somewhat consistent and a core group of our fans are loyal to the program which will keep them giving no matter what change needs to occur. You have said it yourself that you are not a Marlin guy but you continue to go to the games and that you will support him. It seems that this may be the only program I've heard of that has fans who want the coach to go or feel he should be held to higher standards but are fine with the university keeping him and rewarding him with new contracts.
Dude, yes your non insulting word, get real. Support drops like a rock in the Grand Canyon in great programs. Ask legendary Bobby Bowden, also basketball Tubby Smitt, Billy Gillispie. There’s dozens of good to great programs that don’t wait for the bottom to fall out before taking action. Most do. The worst the program the more the rope is given to the coaches. Those programs have almost to a “man” had mediocre supporters who eat shat sandwiches.
Those dogs are luckily not gonna die from heatstroke
To all of you people making excuses, I guarantee you that the ice Marlin is skating on gets thinner and thinner each year.
Accurate. I’m not a marlin guy, I’m a Cajun guy.
I may be part of the problem. I will be there if we win 5 or 25. There are some baseball people that will be there if they win 20 or 40. Simply a preference of sport people enjoy. That does not mean I don't recognize issues. We turn the ball over too much, give up too many offensive rebounds, and don't have enough depth. Depth issue was obvious the other night. As far as the staff is concerned, they are not going anywhere after this season no matter what happens due to the extension. However if this season and next are both poor, things may change. That may be a slightly different perspective than I had a few weeks ago but only because of thinking more of the reduced buyout.
