So what I want to know is what exactly is your position on the state of our basketball program? You argue for pages with the people who are critical of Marlin but then you say you are not a Marlin guy. What exactly is your opinion of this program? I will share one thing with you. While I was watching the game on Saturday night, I can honestly say I wasn't even ____ed. The reason I came up with was that its something that honestly I've come to expect in some ways and I know, from speaking to CajunsMike, that it doesn't matter what I feel or say anyhow as Marlin is not going anywhere. It is that apathy that I was feeling which is what is holding this program back. Marlin has so much job security that there is really no result that will hold his feet to the fire no matter how good or bad a season is.

Marlin had a kick-___ squad last year, but still failed to win the tournament to get us to the NCAA, and then lost in the NIT to LSU, but who cares. Other than that everything was great last year and it took Marlin only 9 years to get us there. Just think what he can accomplish in year 20.
Wow!! Trying not to call you names. But neither paragraph is accurate.

No one could come up with the example I was wondering about.

I should have said despite losing in the tourney and th LSU, we still had a good team. Instead of saying” I don’t care if we lost, we were still a good team”

Have to be very careful how you word things here, people will spin it however they see fit to argue.

Pay attention to this conversation folks. Jacob81 is the predominant attitude of our social club fan base for basketball. The same 1500-2000 will show up to the dome, no matter who the coach is, no matter the quality of basketball, no matter how schltty the league is, no matter who the NAIA opponent might be... and the staff, admin and boosters know it.

We are stuck in cement for a reason. This thread is exhibit A.

Did Mike Murphy just say, "we are everybody's big game?" LMAO!!! I hope Schultz laughed at him.

So the 1,500 fans that will show up and pull for the team are the problem? If we’re 5-20 and I show up to see if they can win a 6th game because I enjoy Cajuns basketball, I’m the problem? We will be successful when the fans quit supporting the team.

    Great!!!

And this is exactly the response you’ll get when you point it out...

What he is saying is that no matter how successful or crappy our program is, the same people will come out and show up for games. In other words, there are no major expectations put on the coach and program to strive for and achieve excellence which is what gives Marlin his astounding job security.

Well if 1,500 people keeps the coach employed that’s a higher up issue. Not a supportive fan issue.

    Great!!!
You've absolutely nailed it, finally! People continually supporting mediocre to bad teams by attending, buying tickets is the major problem. Athletic directors love chumps like that.

Please tell me your not serious. So if no one supports the team the coach gets fired. Then we hire a great coach which we will entice with our great fan support and pay with all our lost revenue. Then when he magically takes the job he will recruit top notch players because every kid wants to play in a empty 12,000 seat venue.

If that’s the case. I would like to thank all of you that are not showing up for being the truly great fans!!!!!! I know how bad y’all want to attend but tough love will prevale.

Thanks again RP army. Where would we be without you.
