My brother, you have zero situational awareness. Sunbelt basketball is easily bottom third out of 30 in D1 conferences year in and year out. We have won 1 regular season title in 12 years. ONE. In a brutal league. ONE.

Football started walkons and converted WRs on defense. Started a QB that walked on and couldn’t start for his own JUCO. Didn’t dress a full roster because the previous coach got caught cheating. Played for a conference championship and won the west in year 1 of a new staff. You think that’s not a big accomplishment?? Yet you think winning 27 games in an awful league, with zero top 50 wins and not even getting to the finals of our own conference tourney is???

Plenty of teams start walk ons. Jaquet wasn’t needed at receiver why not try him at corner, it worked. And our qb definitely was as you explained. Yet we still won a sorry division in a mid g5 conference and finished 7-7 looking and coaching like hot garbage Saturday. What an accomplishment.

They should make a movie about this season.

What I don't understand is, what's the purpose of the argument or trolling? His only position so far as it relates to basketball is that if no one else is any good in the deep south these days, then why should we think we can be? Sort of, why even try?

Marlin had a kick-___ squad last year, but still failed to win the tournament to get us to the NCAA, and then lost in the NIT to LSU, but who cares. Other than that everything was great last year and it took Marlin only 9 years to get us there. Just think what he can accomplish in year 20.

So when you say we’re letting the coaching staff make it sound impossible. Are you talking about all the mid major fan bases and coaching staffs in the south? Because apparently we’re all in the same boat. Win your tourney or your out. Except for few cases down here. Like Houston this year maybe. But if they lose a couple inconference to uconn, Cinn, ucf, or smu. They will be in the same position. So maybe it’s not impossible but it seems really freakin hard, because no one is doing it down south.

Hope's not usually a very sound strategy, especially for becoming a millionaire, but you probably already know that.

I've actually said nothing negative at all about Bob Marlin. If he believes that he's doing exactly what Dr. Maggard wants him to do, then my beef is really with Maggard and not Marlin. However, I don't think that's the case. I'm no insider but believe Maggard expects more.

I'm sure Marlin's a decent man and a decent basketball coach, just no longer the coach this program needs today. We need all our sports, the most important ones anyway, running on 8 cylinders, and sooner, rather than later. We're not going to win any races with what's on the court these days.

I would actually agree with you on this. And I will say that I believe Maggard is completely happy with the job Marlin is doing considering his willingness to extend him and his public comments about those extensions stating that Marlin is running a clean program. He is obviously showing what is important to him and building a program of excellence is not that priority, at least not right now it isn't.
