I’m with you. This year falls back to more of the same then I believe Maggard is the guy to find us a coach who can get more done.

He's not taking your words out of context. The fact that we had one of the best teams in Marlin's tenure and shat the bed in both the conference tournament and at LSU should make one stark raving mad about the end result.

Why?

1. Yes, the talent level isn't as good. In this area, and especially in this state, our best athletes tend to play football and baseball.

2. Conferences in the south suck. I shouldn't have to explain how huge the conference you play in is.

3. Schools in the south focus on football first. Basketball programs suffer as a result. Also, recruits notice when your basketball program is treated like an afterthought.

4. There are no good schools to play which kills RPI.

5. Attendance is terrible. As bad as we think our attendance is lately, we're still consistently the Sun Belt attendance leaders by a decent margin.

And buddy, Butler is a Big East school located in Indiana, which is the epicenter of college basketball. Dayton is in (arguably) the best top to bottom mid major conference in the country.

As far as mid-major teams in the deep South, you can count the ones who have done better than us over the past few years on one hand.

So why not cut basketball funding and coaches pay to bare minimum and pump the money elsewhere if we have no shot of advancing our position.

Baseball went 58-10 lost while hosting as a national seed. That was as disappointing a loss as basketball last year. Still a good team. Following team wasn’t as good but wasn’t calling for robes head.

Went 16-2 in the Sbc and stil did not get invited to the dance and went 0-3 in our last 3 games

Robe finished 3rd in CWS, has gone to numerous regionals, and super regionals. Your boy the Big Fish hasn’t built a legacy like that, not even in the zip code. So don’t try to compare.

Yeah, have that attitude and there's simply no reason not to move an additional $500,000 into our assistant coaching pool for football? You think it doesn't matter to the kids being recruited? The head coach is the most important, but how many have you seen praise the assistants who are recruiting them? Keep upgrading the football staff. Screw the basketball staff. It's too FREAKIN HARD to compete at basketball with those schools in Indiana.
