But bob won his. Let that sink in
Just kidding
So the scores and times I showed which are FACTS. Showed that we were outscored by 18 points for the 20ish straight minutes Gant sat out the game. But me saying Gants injury is why we got blown out is an excuse and embarrassing.
And asking what southern mid major we could model ourselves after, which no one could come up with is also embarrassing?
Dude your right... I’m red in the face just thinking about all of it. What an idiot I am. From now on I’ll just look for your most recent post for all my future thoughts.
Apples to oranges
Hud took over a Bustle team that had the talent in place but no direction on HOW to win. Add a few talents to that roster (Peoples, Ringo, Harris, etc.), and you have a 9-4 team with a bowl victory. Unfortunately, Hud’s honeymoon ended when he started to let his celebrity status get in the way of his coaching job added to the fact that we were also put on probation with a locker room left divided. He was also making $1 million per year while finishing 5th in the Sun Belt. That’s an insult right there.
In comes Napier who took a team with a divided locker room to a Conference Championship and a bowl game. He also had a team that was depleted in many positions as opposed to when Hud came in. Hud had guys like Bill Bentley and Melvin White starting at CB while Napier had to move a key WR to CB because we had no depth there. Hud has two quarterbacks who had enough starting experience to take the job at anytime. As you saw this year, Napier didn’t. Hud basically took a talented team with “football players” and taught them how to win. Napier took a team full of nice camp and combine numbers but no fundamental skills, and put them in the postseason. Napier also changed the culture of the locker room.....a complete 180. What Napier did with this team in one year is a miracle.
Now with basketball, we are in year 9. YEAR NINE!!!!!! And it’s the same excuses and the same bizarre reasoning from this coaching staff that we are hearing of why we can’t succeed. It’s to the point where I just don’t want to take up for that. I’ll always pull for a team that represents our school. But when our coach is making good money, I want that to compliment our play on the court. And what I saw tonight didn’t show that. It’s getting stale.
If Napier’s and Maggard’s salaries don’t compliment their results, then yes. I will be critical. But they haven’t done anything yet to make me feel that way.
I agree on your basketball points and I’m not happy with where we are. But we had a record number of wins last year. Tonight sucked but according to MAT I had a good excuse for the blowout. Haha
Football on the other hand. I’m happy with Napier and glad he’s our coach. But the team he took over that was broken and had minimal talent was one play away from bowling last year against similar competition. I don’t see what miracle he worked.
Your making excuses for why Hud was handed a 6 win turn around and why Napier’s 2 win turn around is so much better.
Half of RP was jumping ship when we lost to coastal. Like I said, if Monroe makes a fg and wins in OT. Same people are jumping ship.
The difference between the last 2 seasons is a few plays. ( I know we were more competitive and this team doesn’t quit)
The difference between bustles 3-9 and huds 9-4 was miracles.
Well there's a reason Hudspeth forfeited games for several seasons. Maybe without his rogue coach getting him several illegal players he's not in a bowl game his first three seasons. Don't forget Napier also dealing with NCAA damages to the total available scholarship players for 2018 & 19. Hudspeth may have plausible deniability on the rogue coach, but I don't trust him.
So yes, night and day from Hudspeth to Napier. Big Fish also has 9 seasons and still I'm waiting, hoping, praying he'll reach his hype.
We really just need to be happy with wins vs US Virgin islands and Loyal NOLA he runs a clean program what more do you want from the guy
The circumstances are night and day. Those 9-4 seasons were partially due to cheating. And Napier coached this season with the consequences of that cheating. And he still won. As for the “what if’s,” yes a few plays could’ve determined different outcomes. But you can’t deny the efforts of this team with lesser talent compared to teams in 2016 or 2017.
