What he needs to do a better job of is staggering his classes.

Two or three producing seniors every year is a must for sustaining successes like last year's 27 wins.
Big problem this year is not having a quality big to back up Gant. What needs to happen is for quality players like Jalen Johnson to come here after HS vs deciding they made a mistake two years after turning us down. Were he eligible in his junior year here, it would be a huge difference. As a result of not having that extra big, we will struggle every time Gant is out. He is suchk a key, that statement is true regardless of opponent. Coach said on his radio show tonight that he will be fine long term. He is a game time decision for tomorrow night.

You're right, baseball falling short was more disappointing.

Mike, this has been a known issue since last season. It cost them a chance at the NCAA tournament. Yet, Marlin doesn’t even recruit one this summer. He did this to himself which makes it so frustrating. He’s clueless. Jalen Johnson won’t come close to solving the problem next year. He better go get a JUCO big, well really 2 at least, or we are in serious trouble going forward.

Oh, but congrats. That restaurant of yours is super clean.
Nailed it "goes out of business"

So called fans are playing program suicide by withdrawing game day support.

A true fan of the sport.

I disagree, Turbine. Those of us who chose not to spend our money watching our poorly coached team play games against the little sisters of the poor are not playing program suicide. Sticking with the restaurant analogy, we are sending a message to management that the food is bad and the service is worse. Many of us have talked to the athletic administration and expressed our reasons for withdrawing support from basketball. The whole purpose of withdrawing support is to force the administration to either take basketball seriously or start treating it [financially] like a minor sport.

In the end, the only voice heard is that of Benjamin Franklin.

Either way, (start taking it serious or minor sport) the choke hold method is dictating that they operate without money.

That is no way to restore or bring a program to greatness.

There are other ways to get the message across to management, which incidentally is whom the fans really have a problem with.

Agree that bringing in a big man who can play is critical. Johnson will help in lots of ways. He has a nice left handed stroke and is actually the best perimeter shooter on team. His rebounding will be fine as he is also a smart player. However he is nowhere the rim protector Gant is and not nearly as athletic.

Yes there are; and I, for one, have done them. That did not appear to work, but as Fanatico said, Benjamins talk much louder than any fan, and when they don't hear Benjamin's voice, they start listening to fans..

I have never had season tickets for basketball, but I never missed a home game when I was a student, and I try to make the big games when I can since then.

I spend all of my money on supporting football. However, if I ever think that we are serious about bringing back the magic of the Blackham days, I will buy season tickets.

Right now, we are not serious. We are doing the minimum because that is what we are allowing to happen. I get it. We have much, much bigger fish to fry with the football stadium, but sooner or later, the current staff will have to produce tourney wins or get off the pot, and I will be front and center requesting my first season ticket purchase.

I'm just not doing that right now as long as we consider having rent-a-wins galore and rent-a-tourney appearances as being successful.
