Thread: We just jumped to no. 58 in team recruiting rankings!

I know we have offered Holstien 2020. Were there any other QB's in the dome this past weekend that we are targeting - Clement (LCA 2019) Zachery QB (2020)?

At the end of the day Character does not win games... the simple answer is the guy who can win more games will play.

I think he will be in the spring. If we miss our JC targets, they still could bring in a Grad. QB transfer after spring. In either case, the spring game will play a major role in deciding our starting QB in 2019.

Can't speak on either, but Clement is similar to Fields. I don't see either as a Cajun next year unless Clement is a preferred walk-on. JMO

I think Clement is committed to Nw St. That’s what I have heard not sure if accurate.

Cool! The kid deserves a shot somewhere.

I think we saw enough of Lewis to have an opinion on some things. First is that for some reason he had to abandon the called play and ran. Don’t know if he was having problems with quickly identifying the open receivers or defenses. He just had more broken plays ratio than Nunez.

Heck Texas and LSU both offered Ryan Perriloux as he was rated one of the top QBs in the nation by all the experts and we all know how that turned out. Recruiting is not an exact science I don't claim to be an expert and every one of the coaches knows way more than me. I am still allowed to have an opinion based on what I saw in three games this year.

You do know this is a message board designed for people to give opinions you don't have to get offended every time you don't agree.
You’re kidding right? Perriloux was ___ing badass. It was his off the field antics that sank his career. The recruiting rankings were dead on the money with him.

To circle back to Lewis, character may not win you games, but Perriloux was a prime example that the lack of character can certainly lose them. Same with JaMarcus Russell. Not to say he was a "bad guy" or anything. Physically, he could throw it 70 yards in the air from one knee, sure, but did he have great football character? Did he love to play and prepare? Not really. And that's why he washed out of the NFL so quickly. Scouting services tell you about physical traits, great coaches and recruiters will be able to find somebody with the right balance of talent and character to fit the team.

People who dog recruiting services usually haven’t got their guys rated well. Seems like Bama, Clemson, Ohio State and others usually win these recruiting services beauty contest.
