  1. UL Football Winning comes with a cost for Cajuns on recruiting front

Playing in the Sun Belt title game and preparing for the Cure Bowl means alternation for UL on the recruiting trail.

That is why they should do away with the December signing date. It puts early bowl teams at an unfair advantage for in home visits and weekend visits.

But bowl teams get an extra 2-3 weeks of practice. Also, most of the coaches wanted this, so I doubt its going away anytime soon.

This is such a dumb headline.

I mean, "Sorry, you have to come on the 8th because we're playing for rings the week before and the week after" doesn't suck as a recruiting pitch. LOL

Tell them ULM's free both weeks if they're looking for something to do.

Except, Napier specifically said that the early signing date is an advantage for G5 school. We have 85%+ of our class committed and only have to hold onto them for 2-3 weeks after a season ends.

I have full confidence that the staff has planned accordingly, and can handle the unfairness of playing in an early bowl game.

It's a lot easier signing kids with a bowl win fresh in their minds and early signing gives up some protection from P5 schools picking off our class last min like has happened in the past.

I'm absolutely in love with not fighting off P5s who offer our 3* kids late to warm their benches in January.

We're competing for rings. Y'all come on the 8th when we're not playing for hardware. Plenty of places y'all can visit while we play on TV and go to Disney World.

I agree 100%, the early signing period is a plus for both G5 players and HS players.

P5 schools can still pick off our commits in December, if they are willing to sign them in the early period. My opinion is that P5 schools will make the December signing date their 'de facto' signing date. Now, unless you are an unbelievable prospect, if we don't have your signed NLI by 10 a.m., you are rescinded and going to option 2.

Even if this were to happen to us, we now have 8-10 weeks to address the loss and see what is out there.

The can but one has to think P5 are hesitant to do so because they might pull a big fish in February it gives us a little better chance of landing all our croots. I remember Oklahoma state calling our entire class in 2015 to try and back fill their's.

Yes. This is nothing more than page filler for the DA. The early signing period is very good for G5 programs period.

We've always begged for an early signing period to hopefully protect some of our recruits and commits from being poached from larger schools who come back on them. I'll take these small growing pains.
