Thread: 2018 SBC Football All-Conference

  1. Default Re: 2018 SBC Football All-Conference

It is hard to compare all three, but in the 4th quarter I want Ragas after having about 15 carries in the game. He gets better as the game goes on and is guaranteed 3 yards minimum vs a tired defense.

Early in the game I want a steady dose of a mix of Mitchell and Ragas. Ragas for the power and Mitchell for the fact that he can break any play into a TD.

And then pepper in Calais periodically wherever you see fit.

There are two amazing facts for this football team that people need to remember. We have lost a total of 3 fumbles all year. Considering how much we run the ball, 3 fumbles is amazing, the other fact is I personally can not remember any of our RB's losing a fumble. I do remember a play where Lewis and one of our backs collided. But these three guys rarely fumble the ball.

The other fact is that all three of them are dangerous out of the backfield catching passes. They have all done it well this year. I am actually surprised Calias has not done it better but all three are capable if not better than average receivers. I would like to see Calais line up as a slot guy and run a few plays for him in space.

I wonder if they look at just conference stats or the entire season stats when voting on this.

Regardless, we should have a 1st team RB. You can argue between Ragas & Mitchell, but one of them definitely deserves 1st team.

I'm not one that really gets excited about post-season awards, I only care about results on the field. However, if this provides extra incentive for the team this weekend, then I am extremely happy with how these turned out.

What a joke. Our boys aren’t getting credit for anything they’ve accomplished. Between the all conference selections and people thinking appy is just gonna steamroll us it’s time to prove everybody wrong

Any chance they split votes forcing them to 2nd and 3rd

Out of those 2 Ragas has the better shot at the NFL. Many of is carries are between the tackles. He’s given the hardest workload of any of our backs to soften up the D and get the tough yards. Both great backs, Ragas is our best IMO.

It's great that we have both Ragas and Mitchell and can make reasonable arguments that either is the better.

I’ll have to disagree with you there. Look at what the NFL has become. Mitchell is like Kamara and Kareem Hunt. Trey Ragas is more like Latavious Murray, big punishing back who delivers the blow instead of getting hit.

I’m all about Billy, Billy. But just because you’ve developed talent above most everyone else and win doesn’t mean you’re just doing the normal. Satterfield has put together a mighty deep talented team. Maybe it’s okay to reward him for that. I’m not saying no to Napier, just that taking Satterfield isn’t necessarily wrong.

My assumption is the vote was.

    Satterfield
    Lunsford
    Napier
    Brown
    Anderson
    Viator
I’d not vote for the GaSouthern coach. Remember that the reason they only won two games last year was almost exclusively the fault of the fired coach, not lack of talent. He simply refused to or couldn’t coach an option team. They were built for running the option. Once he took over last year and went back to the option they immediately improved

I've got no problem with Satterfield getting the award though I believe it could just as easily have gone to Napier and be justified. The problem I have is the placement of a number of our players.

    One way to fix that.

Satterfield is the product of a system and culture built long before him. Napier IS the system and culture here.

And did more with less than probably any other coach in the country.
