Yeah, inheriting a perennial top20 team. He has by far the easiest coaching job at UL.

A lot of talent left when Loteif got canned. He’s done a masterful job without the talent

5 of your best players left started a bunch of true freshman and did not get a fall to practice.

All he did was upset the #2 team and was a bad call away from going to the supers.

Not arguing that, just think his job is easier than other UL coaches.

    I agree.

Ease of scheduling has nada to do with pecking order ... among the sports.

Ease of scheduling has everything to do with pecking order ... within the sport.

Sorry to derail this thread. Nice win for the Cajuns! This should help recruiting instate talent.

Cannot hurt. We've still got UNeaux, SLU, LATURD, Brokebacks among others to beat.

Down the road it should. As far as this year goes, we already beat Tulane on the state top's player. Malik Wilson was recruited by Tulane.

3 games/3 days. Shooting got progressively worse but still came out with 2 wins. All in all I think the team will come back better for lessons learned.

Toledo leads the Anteaters 67 - 60 with 9 seconds to go.

ULM as well is a state team we need to continue to handle. As far as today's game goes, our kids deserve a bunch of credit for the hustle and determination they put out. You have to do a whole bunch of things well when you shoot in the 30's. All of them are effort and focus plays. You have to minimize turnovers, play great defense, go to the glass hard, and make your free throws. We only had 7 turnovers which is excellent for a 40 minute game. We held Tulane to a percentage in the 30's as well, only allowed 27 second half points and forced 15 turnovers. We outrebounded a much bigger team and we shot just under 80 percent from the line. Still, you can't expect to win many games the way we have shot the ball recently. We have to find someone who can consistently knock down some perimeter shots. I keep hoping that will be Russell but he has yet to find his stroke although he hit two crucial ones today. He did have an injury over the summer which required surgery so maybe he has not fully recovered there. Going forward, it would not surprise me if we started shooting the ball a little better. Sometimes when you prove to yourself you can win without shooting well a few more drop in. Finally, this is the first time in my life I recall beating Tulane in basketball. That makes it a good day regardless of how much we struggled shooting the ball. Props to the guys one more time for finding a way to pull out a gritty win.
