I think I read that the last time the Cajuns beat Tulane was in 1935. 83 years!

    Whining about the whining.

Whatever dude, his record speaks for itself. Middle of the road in a mid major conference. That's not elite in any view. Maggard wants us dominating the conference. So far only softball getting it done.

Express and I disagree about some basketball issues. However, I don't think he has had much to say negative after the individual games this season. His criticism is more of a long term view than any specific contest. One thing we do agree on is that it is unreasonable to expect to perform as well as last year at this point with three guys missing. That is especially the case when you consider we are missing two freshman we were counting on. They are hopeful Gladney gets the OK to practice within the next few days and he may play soon after that. That may help our depth issue.

You got me curious about our all time record versus Tulane in men's basketball. According to
Ragincajuns.com, this is our first victory. We had four losses dating back to 1958 until notching a win today. Geaux Cajuns!!

You have to do a whole bunch of things well when you shoot in the 30's. All of them are effort and focus plays. You have to minimize turnovers, play great defense, go to the glass hard, and make your free throws. We only had 7 turnovers which is excellent for a 40 minute game. We held Tulane to a percentage in the 30's as well, only allowed 27 second half points and forced 15 turnovers. We outrebounded a much bigger team and we shot just under 80 percent from the line. Still, you can't expect to win many games the way we have shot the ball recently. We have to find someone who can consistently knock down some perimeter shots. I keep hoping that will be Russell but he has yet to find his stroke although he hit two crucial ones today. He did have an injury over the summer which required surgery so maybe he has not fully recovered there. Going forward, it would not surprise me if we started shooting the ball a little better. Sometimes when you prove to yourself you can win without shooting well a few more drop in. Finally, this is the first time in my life I recall beating Tulane in basketball. That makes it a good day regardless of how much we struggled shooting the ball. Props to the guys one more time for finding a way to pull out a gritty win.

Losing to ull is never acceptable. In any sport. Period.

Shown above is a post about today from the Tulane message board. They are obviously frustrated. I would be too if the result had turned out different. I feel the guy's pain but in the end that makes the win more enjoyable for us. I will not however comment on their forum. No need to gloat when we have plenty of issues ourselves.

Lamers better get used to it.

I’ll be taking the granddaughter to a victory over the hated UNeaux club Wednesday. I’m sure I’ll have lots of elbow room

That guy needs to go back to the academic side so he can complain in coherent sentences.

I wouldn't endorse firing Marlin especially with the year he had last year. Hopefully we are on a path of enhanced success. I would just stop the damn multi-year extensions. We are currently under contract to him until 2023.
