Over the weekend, we reported that former Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez had interviewed with Matt Luke for the offensive coordinator job.

Our understanding was the interview went well.

It was announced this evening that Houston fired Applewhite. He has $1.8 remaining on his contract. No mention of possible hires.

They fired him for losing to just about every decent team they have played this year. Their best win was a mediocre Notre Dame team. Liberty was just the final straw.
