No i still have the text and my buddy isn’t a crazy follower of sports, Napier was on the radar from the beginning regardless of what people want to believe..things change through the process of who becomes the leading candidate etc...but he didn’t get his name out of thin air and it was hours after huds firing was announced. When they announced Napier my first thought was how the F did he know that..then i remembered who he worked for.

Well, I spent too many hours of my ever-decreasing life on-line tracking this stuff and Napier's name came out of the blue for me. Of course, all that means is that I'm not connected, but then you guys already knew that. LOL

BTW, I still spend too many hour of my ever-decreasing life watching this stuff.

Ok..is that your 100% Rock solid answer? And for the record i was told the same as you about Pry the night before but Napier’s name surfaced for a reason in the beginning. It’s ok to admit occasionally you don’t know everything that goes on here. I never heard anything about Napier except that text within 3 hours of hud being fired...and really who cares, glad he is the guy.

Big shocker that someone would make that comment.

Anyway, anyone's name can "surface". If you remember, Napier was thought to be a leading candidate for the Zona State job when Hud was shown the door. After the infamous "rock solid" post, believe it or not, a certain someone from admin felt bad enough for me to tell explain the situation from start to finish. Didn't happen until this year, but that person eventually did explain, with two others at the table, what I'm telling you guys here.

That's cool I enjoyed the ride of not knowing

Same here Crazy. I’d never heard of Napier until right after Hudspeth dismissal. Several weeks later Brent name, and I said oh well. Why his name was mentioned so early , I’ve no idea. Maybe his agent was pimping his name in general. All I’m certain if is I got that name very early.

I always figure Heupel would have been top target but then UCF opened.

There was another coach with a verbal offer from our admin and a contract was being drafted. Saban called Maggard. The rest is history. Napier was not a target or a thought when Hudspeth was fired.
Not only was a contract being drafted, his plane was waiting on the tarmac. Napier was not the first choice and no one heard that from Maggard or anyone in the administration. I don't care what people are saying publicly now.

Edwards was announced as hired same day hud was fired. No other reports mentioned Napier during the process, just this guys boss who is very close and a huge donor.

First choice and name not even in the hat or even in the radar are two different things. I don’t think Napier was the first choice or the guy all along. He was identified as a potential candidate early on, that’s all. I think when it was realized he wasn’t going to be the guy is when “the call” happened
