Makes sense to me, one of the best football minds to coach on our campus.

Great guy with an awesome wife and son. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him and the Mrs at many baseball tournaments for a couple of years, as our sons were teammates. We also car pooled to Erath a few times a week together. Couldn’t ask for better people. Good to see Jay back on the field doing what he loves to do.

Lumberjacks hire Memphis DC Chris Ball as new coach

Northern Arizona has hired Memphis defensive coordinator Chris Ball as its next football coach.

Ball's hiring was announced by the school Monday.

Ball replaces Jerome Souers, who stepped down after 21 years to take another position within the athletic department.

Ball spent the past three seasons as the Tigers defensive coordinator under Mike Norvell. He led a defense that forced the fifth-most turnovers in the FBS over a three-year span and was third nationally in 2017 with 31.

LOL at App fans. They're tracking airplanes (who would ever dream of doing something like that?) and are freaking out because of a flight from Miami to Hickory today. They're afraid it's Miami o-line coach Stacy Searles, who Miami fans seem eager to be rid of.

They have a Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Thursday.

Sources tell FootballScoop Wednesday evening Mel Tucker has hired Tyson Summers to serve as his defensive coordinator at Colorado.

Summers served as a defensive quality control at Georgia the past year+, after spending the 2016 & part of the 2017 season as head coach at Georgia Southern. In total, Georgia Southern went 5-13 under Summers’ watch.

i'm hearing from a few app. st. insider friends tonight that they are close to hiring a coach. the name being tossed around is josh gattis, the co-o.c. from alabama. was told he spent 5-6 years with franklin at vandy and penn st and spent this year with saban at bama. sounds like a good get if it happens.
