As I mentioned in the "Purge"Post, I am starting to have a sickening feeling that the popularity of football is in decline (like MLB - which began late 1980's).
Several factors:
-On one end, Concussion Issues being hyped are limiting "new" fans.
-On the other end, the attempt to make a mildly "dangerous" sport, into a 100% "safe sport" is turning off old school fans.
Then you have actual attendance problems with the remaining fans:
-Giant screen TV's at home
-Games on Cell Phones
-Sports Bars
I hope I am wrong....

Used to see little kids playing pew wee football anywhere I went. Now I only see a little here and there. Youngsville is always filled with little kids playing soccer. Add the internet turning all the kids into incels and there's gonna be major changes down the road.
Pretty soon football will be a regional sport again and what's left of ESPN will finally get it's wish of 3 SEC school in the playoffs
What's your definition of 'pretty soon' ? We won't see this for at least 50 years.
Think of where football WAS in 1968.
Think about the PEAK in 2008 (?)
Think about where we are today.
Then trace the trajectory.
I see 50 years from now to be very bleak.
If I could ever figure out a way to not love football anymore, I would have so much money and time on my hands.
I don't know...i see stadiums on Sat.thst are 75 to 80% full...is the 20% critical mass for these programs to start complaining about attendance? Not including sec stadiums, mostly ACC and AAC..
