Thanks for the compliments guys. Note, some things cannot be shared. I did find it surprising some took a note about the Men's Basketball Rebounders Club raising more money than any of the support groups and turned it into a negative. I thought it was a positive that basketball fund raising is improving. Granted, it is not enough yet to get those charter flights needed. They raise much more than the Diamond Club and the Diamond Club has more members. I understand Coach Robe raises funds outside of the Diamond Club through things like suites and outfield signage. Not sure things like that are available to basketball but I won't argue innovation is needed. All the dollars are needed from every group. We need to find a way to pay nutritionists, consultants etc.

Weren't they saying that he (Marlin) is not a very good fundraiser and that they had hoped he would raise more? I didn't think it had anything to do with their funds raised in comparison to the other sports right?

Some did say that but my original post was about the Rebounders amount vs other support groups. To be honest I have no idea what is a good amount for a school at our level. I would like to see the amount of private funds raised at a school like Middle Tennessee for a comparison.

Half a million just to be clear, probably still wouldn't spend it on improving the OOC schedule, but I think half a million is doable. That's 500 diehard fans willing to put up a grand.

I'd be willing to be one of the 500, just not gonna be a groundbreaker, or leader. To get those types of numbers you actually need a goal with a purpose. I'm never gonna give a group a grand to do whatever they want.

Plans are in place to have an outline of how the Rebounders Club donations were spent be given to members when the season ends. If I get the OK, I may share that info there. I believe travel expenses will take up much of the funds. Some may have gone to paying guarantees to visiting teams as we have not had to do that prior to this one in many years. Usually we keep the great majority of our guarantee money but that was not the case this year.

"I haven't seen this years numbers but you can go back and look at the last two Athletic Reports and look at the donations line. The 80K is the most that Coach Marlin has raised in his tenure at UL, the Locker Rooms involved others including Gerald Hebert. This comes from the athletic department and their statement was that Marlin doesn't raise enough money for his program in comparison to his budget for the MBB and other programs at UL. Coach Rob has raised more money for the Baseball program outside others that have assisted him."

This is what I stated and he doesn't come close to Coach Robichaux in total funds raised. I stand by my statement.

Let's be honest, qb club, diamond club, rebounder club. Not a big effort by head coaches. It's what YOU as head coach do outside of these organizations that separate the men from the boys. Robe is in a class that the roll-call is one. Bobby Big Fish also in a roll-call of one, but it's not a superlative club he's in.
