There is no doubt that the parking fee has impacted attendance this season. Do I think it will continue to impact attendance in future seasons, I do not. This is a mindset that has been jarred this season, but it will become the new normal and be accepted.

It is my opinion that in 4-5 years we are going to know for sure, if we are a viable D1 football area or an FCS area.
In 4 ir 5 years a lot of FBS G5 programs will be finding out the same thing.....we have a legit shot of ending up where we want to be. A lot of different things have been instituted in the last 2 years that will bear fruit in the coming 5 years.....hell we've even accelerated the time frame for upgrading the stadium.....does anyone here really think that Maggard, his Staff and our consultants Rick Jones with Fishbait Marketing And Mike Alden don't know what's going on in the world of College football? Does anyone think that they aren't putting us in position for the coming mother of all realignments?

    Pretty boring stuff.

I agree 100% with you bear. Even if we were winning and filling the stadium, right now, I would be encouraged, but I know the real test that matters is in 4 or so years. It would be great NOW, but wouldn't guarantee us anything.

It's not as bad as after the Baldwin years, but winning isn't the only problem this time, it's about having pride and feeling like we're pulling for the "good guys". I mean, a huge reason why people don't like LSU here is we see how corrupt they are. The positive side is these kids seem like hard working good kids and I'm proud to say I'm pulling for them. The fans will come as Napier rebuilds...hopefully.
I keep seeing people complaining about the F Trump video but I ask what about the African American crowd that can't identify with being called a Cajun so that's a wash in my book. I feel until we get the butts in the seats that were already paid for by season ticket holders we shouldn't complain about the casual fan not showing up. I sit on the visitors side and I am disappointed every game I look across at the chair backs and half are empty. We need to take care of our own house before we invite others in it. The other problem is the parking put a product on the field that people will pay $10 to park and see along with quality out of conference competition. Just watch how our basket ball attendance goes down because of that same combination.

For what it's worth, I dont care about the f trump video, I really dont care, but people are very knee jerk and butthurt these days and it goes both ways. Politics is as divided as it's been in my lifetime by a freaking mile and because of that, people will stay away. As for the African American crowd that can't identify with cajuns is a ridiculous point. I dont need to be an Indian to be a Cleveland Indian or Washington redskin fan. You dont have to be a Seminole to be a FSU fan, cajuns is our moniker. Acadiana is our home and African Americans are every bit a part of our unique culture as everyone else and no one is claiming any different.

You guys keep asking the question why attendance is so poor but refuse to listen to the answer or just don't like the answer that you are getting. Props to the local kids for doing what they did this past weekend. The reality is that things like that don't happen too often with Cajun football. You, MAT and the rest of your ilk talk about "purging" Cajun football of casual fans and all that the Cajuns have to do is win on a consistent basis and the fans will fill the stadium. Let's say that the Cajuns go on a 4 year run where they win the Sun Belt each year. Do you think that that will be enough to draw an additional 25,000 fans to Cajun Field on a consistent basis for every home game? Where are these fans going to come from? What your seeing now attendance wise for football is the reality of things as the way it will be from now on. The attendance might jump up a few thousand per game depending on who the Cajuns are playing. But unless oil gets back up to $100/barrel again and drilling in the Gulf kicks off again big time, this the reality for football no matter how many "professionals" you have running things.
