I don’t think this is true. They moved all RCAF parking to the Cajundome lots. The parking map that was printed on the parking passes has been modified. D lot parking is now on the Congress St. side where media used to park.
Also, they literally had a sign last night in front of a locked gate saying go to gate 4 (like anyone knows where that is) and pay $10. The North end zone was blocked off with flags earlier in the afternoon but I noticed at some point someone had just ripped down the flags to park.
Last year: You entered at the second Cajun Field gate. If you went left, it meant you had an RCAF pass. (That put you in the section closest to the tunnel.) If you turned right it was free parking.
They moved the RCAF donors to the back of the Cajundome this year.
Now if you enter the same gate and turn left, it's ten bucks. If you turn right, it's free.
If you want to make sure, enter in the first gate on Congress (if you're coming from the CVS area). You'll be good to go.
That info needs to be further distributed. There are people who have said they will not attend simply because of the parking charge. If they are made aware there is still a free parking option they may attend a few times. Granted it requires a little bit of a walk but thst is good for your health.
That gate was closed on gameday this week. If you hadn't gone in at the first entrance then you were stuck and had to turn on Cajundome Blvd then funneled to the pay entrance.
I agree with Mike, the information was not sent out. The only info that was widespread known was that RCAF had to pay for parking passes separately ($60 pass). I don't remember ever seeing anything about the $10 gameday parking for basketball.
Also as mentioned, if D lot passes aren't a reserved section, then that's fine, but it should be made clear. D section was not roped off and all the people who paid the $10 were in that same area.
I was also told with a D-lot pass you could either park at the new designate space off Congress "behind" the dome or in the old lot across the tunnel.
