I guess we can spin it anyway we want, but this team and staff were not ready to play and didn't compete in the first half. And that is where the game was lost, especially the TE dropping a certain TD pass was a huge momentum swing. In the second half the defense played well enough to keep us in the game, but Nunez could not raise his play to the competition.

Bottom line, we have to play well in all phases of the game to win our next three games period. We are not good enough to take anyone for granted and we don't have a QB that can carry this team on his back.

I will be at Cajun Field next weekend.

You can’t can’t underthrow wide open receivers when the defense is pressing all game long. When throws like that occur, the defense loses all respect for the passing game. I love the guys attitude, and he has helped this team win games this year, but today and at App St, we were minus in the QB position. Levi actually posed the bigger matchup problem against Troy and I’m still trying to figure out why he was not given more snaps.
I'm fine with the loss. We lost to a good team and competed, especially in the second half like you suggest. I'm disappointed in two things. 1) Nunez's composure in the pocket. He was sacked multiple times late in the game because he got happy feet and he just doesn't want to run the ball. Our offense relies on that at times. 2) From the 4:30 minute mark down, we just let the clock run without any type of hurry offense even though we needed two scores. That was just unacceptable. No urgency.

Why not have the chili cook off in conjunction with a home game so students can attend both?

Troys defense had a lot to do with that. We’ve not had much offensive success against any team that we can run the ball on. If we are forced to win the game through the air, we haven’t been able to do much. That said, we don’t face another D that good the rest of the way.

Troy's defense did exactly what the staff expected them to do, ran the same defense as Arkansas State with 7 or 8 in the box and dared us to beat them throwing the ball. Our staff believed Astate were a bit faster on the edges per my conversation. Nothing they did was unexpected, we were just not ready to play.

Gameplan May have been the same but clearly they are a more talented defense than stAte. Not saying you’re wrong, but I stand by my assessment that we haven’t had offensive success against any team with a decent defense.

I agree with your assessment and it begins at the QB position. But we all knew this going into this game. I will be there Saturday hoping for a better performance.

Troy is much more disciplined on defense than Arkansas State ever thought of being. They did a much better job of stopping the run, forcing the game into Nunez's hands, especially tougher 3rd down conversions.

Nunez didn't play well, but I also think that Napier is getting about as much as he can out of him as a QB. Outside of RB and WR, this isn't a very talented team and QB is the least talented position on this team.

    It is what it is.

From a scheme standpoint, maybe they run similar packages, but Troy corners were much more physical, DLine was much more disciplined, and IMO, the entire defense was smarter. Those guys know their role and react to the ball.

I look forward to the rematch on Dec 1st
