Some of ya ll act like this is the 3rd year of this coaching regime.. Geez.. Its takes time to build from the disaster of inadequate recruiting and probation just year before and back. Some of our fan base are our own worst enemy.

Vegas had our over/under win total at 4.5.
We had a terrible d last year and lost some of our best players to draft and injury. The coaches got a very late jump on recruiting and the early signing period had a bigger impact tHan most predicted. We came into the year without a proven qb, kicker and punter and zero defense. All of those things plus many other are why we were expected to win 4.5 games.
What in the world did you expect these coaches to do? Coastal got away but stAte was an upset. A win next week and this team beats the odds. A conference championship and bowl game are still realistic expectations.
Your comment is appreciated and not without merit. We don't know at this point, it's hard to tell because Napier is very likable. He appears to have what it takes by what we have seen, but there isn't anything we can really hang our hat on. He's won a couple and lost a couple that could have gone either way. I'm hopeful he can get us there, but not 100 percent convinced yet. Like we have been saying, only time will tell, and that means a year or two more.
I agree with your point that wins aren't necessarily the best indicator of improvement. Also, improvement isn't a straight line of up and to the right. We want the overall trend, like a stock graph, to go up and to the right, but there will be dips in that path.
Outside of statistics like wins, yards gained, yards allowed, etc ... the rest is fairly subjective.
My opinion is that if we make a bowl game this season, we are getting our money's worth from this staff.
If we win the West, we are getting more than our money's worth and if we win the conference, we got a bargain.
Like I said, this is my opinion from attending games since 1975. I understand how people have different expectations than me, this is just how I feel about where we are in the program right now.
